Experience

I earned my masters in secondary history and spent six years teaching middle school students in the subject. While a teacher, I also tutored and mentored students to bolster their performance in class. I participated in the Master's of Arts Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS) at the University of Chicago. Through the program, I earned my degree in tertiary education. Along with my classroom experience, I have taught as a substitute teacher, a health and wellness instructor for adults with disabilities, and as a SAT tutor for Princeton Review. Though I am primarily a writing and social sciences teacher, I am passionate about language as well as science and math. I enjoy spreading knowledge and helping students fully master a subject. I encourage my students to ask questions when they come up, rather than waiting for the lesson to finish. We work at their natural learning pace, spending as much or as little time as needed on each concept. By understanding the student's learning style and needs, we can build a personalized plan to achieve their academic goals. When I'm not tutoring, I am an avid reader with a love for the classics. I love to write, particularly fiction for young adults.

Hobbies

In my free time, I like to read. My favorite works are classical literature, and I have about five boxes of books in my basement that I am trying to get through. Additionally, I have been a writer since I was 11; I wrote Young Adult fiction before it was cool.
